Our Mission & Vision

The vision of the New Zion Baptist Church is to love and worship God, to love others, and to magnify the name of Jesus Christ. The mission of our church is to glorify our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to make true disciples throughout all the nations by means of missionary activity and support, to minister the ordinances of the church, to edify the Lord, and to do all that is sovereignly possible and biblically permissible to magnify the name of Jesus Christ.

Leadership Team:

Our leadership recognizes the authority of God, and realizes that we are shepherds who serve under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. Our prayers and desires are to devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word. Our spiritual passion and goal is to equip other believers for the work of the ministry of Jesus Christ so that we may all develop spiritual maturity in the fullness of Jesus Christ.
                                                          Dr. Carl M. Henderson Ph.D., Th.D., RC.D. – Senior Pastor
Dr. Henderson is the primary teacher and spiritual leader of our congregation. Pastor Henderson has a passion for the Holy Scriptures and teaching others.  He has served the  church in many capacities in his life time, Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon,  Ass0ciate Minister, Youth Pastor and Senior Pastor.  Dr. Henderson worked eleven years as Curriculum Specialist & Preventionist with the McCurtian Co. Education Co-op and twelve years as Extension Specialist with Langston University.   He and his wife have two children and three grandchildren. Wife Ruthie has worked as Pre-school teacher for thirty plus years.
Dr. Henderson has served in the ministry of the Southeastern District Baptist Assoc. of Southeastern Oklahoma, Southwest Arkansas Baptist District  Assoc. and is currently Pastor’s Conference Chairman & Assistant Dean of the Little River District Baptist Association – Arkansas.
 Bro. Jackie  Boyles  – Deacon Board Chairman
Deacon Jackie Boyles has served as deacon for forty three years at the New Zion Baptist Church, he possess a broad range of spiritual knowledge, wisdom and leadership skills that are essential to the success of our ministry.   He is married to wife Willie and are the parents of the six children.   Deacon Boyles is a retiree of Ash Grove Cement Company of Foreman, Arkansas.
                         Bro. Mitchell Morris – DeaconSunday School Superintendent
Deacon Morris has been a member of the New Zion Baptist for twenty years, he has served as Sunday School Superintendent for fours years.   Deacon Morris loves teaching the word and feel that Sunday School is the foundation for all spiritual growth for young and old.    Deacon Morris started his service as deacon in January of 2014 and is married to wife LaDonna they  are the parents of three children.   Deacon Morris is retired from Weyerhaeuser Lumber Co.  of  Derricks, Arkansas, Deacon Morris is a dedicated spiritual leader at home, to the
community and to the New Zion Baptist Church family.

Sis. Anna Johnson – Assistant Treasurer

Sister Anna Johnson has been a loyal and dedicated member of  the New Zion Baptist Church for fifty years.   She has served as Church Clerk and Treasurer for most of those  years. Sister Johnson is retired from Fred’s Discount Stores where she worked for twenty five years.


Sister Rita Williams – Assistant  Treasurer

Sis. Williams has been a loyal member of the New Zion Baptist Church for  twenty one years.   She also serves as a member of the Senior Choir and Usher Department.   Sister Rita is employed at the Arkansas Health Department as a Health Specialist II now for twenty plus years.

Sister Beverly Maxwell – Church Treasurer

Sister Maxwell has been a member of the New Zion Baptist Church since 2013.  Sister Maxwell serves also in the Usher Department at New Zion Baptist Church. She is currently a elementary school teacher  DeQueen Independent School District.    She retired after 30 years of service as a elementary teacher in the Broken Bow, Oklahoma Independent School District.

The New Zion Baptist Church DeQueen, Ar.
Due to the  Coronavirus/Covid-19 the New Zion Baptist Church has altered their worship time and schedules. We will no longer have Sunday School before morning service, we have also cancelled Mid-week Bible Study Service. Our regular services will start Sunday  morning at 11:00 am and conclude @ 12:00 am.  Attendance Restrictions will be limited to 10 people only at any given time.   A letter concerning all in-house restrictions can be obtained  by calling  580 212 9357 or email newziondequeen@outlook.com.  These changes will be in place until further notice.
We encourage all to comply with your federal, state and local governmental agencies concerning  all mandates for reasonable safety and health practices.
